Fort Worth uses shootout to best Quad City, 2-1 (2-0 SO)

Phil Fox scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Fort Worth Brahmas picked up the extra point in a 2-1 (2-0 SO) win over the Quad City Mallards.

The shootout featured nine attempts between both teams. In addition to the clincher, Fort Worth got a shootout goal from Fox.

The Brahmas came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Fort Worth fell behind 1-0 after a goal by Quad City's Brett Robinson at 12:14 in the first period. The Brahmas knotted things up at 1-1 on a goal by Austin Mayer at 11:33 in the second period.

Fort Worth excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

The Mallards' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Fort Worth power plays. The defense for Quad City played an important role offensively, racking up 10 shots on goal.

In addition, Quad City received assists from Mike Stinziani and Mitch McColm, who contributed one a piece.

Kristofer Westblom rejected 22 shots on goal for the Brahmas. Fort Worth incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. John Murray recorded 20 saves for the Mallards. Quad City incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
