Bloomington beats Missouri 7-0 as Pelletier gains shutout

The Bloomington Blaze used a sparkling performance by Pier-Olivier Pelletier to take down the Missouri Mavericks, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Bloomington's 7-0 shutout victory.

Nicklas Lindberg had one goal and two assists to lead the Blaze. Lindberg scored 1:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Bloomington. Jon Booras provided the assist.

Bloomington stifled Missouri's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Blaze surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Bloomington averages 4.1 goals per contest. The defensemen of the Blaze were also effective in the Mavericks' zone, and came away with two goals.

Bloomington also got points from Booras, who also had one goal and two assists and Jesse Dudas, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Tyler Gron also scored for Bloomington. In addition, Bloomington received assists from Aaron Dawson, Charlie Townsend, and David Gilbert, who each chipped in one and Steve Makway and Jared Walker, who contributed two a piece.

Missouri's offense operated below it season average. The Mavericks average 3.3 goals per game. Missouri's offense was clicking better than usual and put 36 shots on goal during the game, better than the 31.2 shots per game it averages.

The Mavericks were led by Jeff Pierce, who took nine shots.

Pelletier rejected 36 shots on goal for Bloomington. The Blaze totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. Mike Clemente recorded 23 saves for Missouri. The Mavericks totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play.
