Dorchester survives Simcoe comeback, wins 4-2

The Dorchester Dolphins came close to giving away a three-goal lead to Simcoe, but did just enough to escape with a 4-2 victory.

Dorchester led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Dolphins' Shayne Rhyno's scored on the power play at 6:30 in the second period to put Dorchester up 3-0.

Brendon O Shaughnessy had two goals and one assist to lead the Dolphins. O Shaughnessy scored the first of his two goals at 2:27 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Dorchester. O Shaughnessy's next tally made the score 4-2 Dorchester with 7:59 left in the third period. Rhyno picked up the assist.

Dorchester's penalty kill excelled, as the Dolphins gave up one goal despite allowing 10 power plays.

Dorchester kept Simcoe's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alex Gegeny made 36 saves on 40 shots. Team could not crack Simcoe's penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having 12 opportunities to play with the man advantage. The Dolphins could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

Dorchester additionally got points from Rhyno, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Dorchester were Liam Gillooly, who had two and Jordan Fuller and Patrick Freel, who each chipped in one.

Simcoe forced Dorchester goalie Jake Fonti to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. Simcoe was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 32 penalty minutes.

Simcoe was helped by Nathan Kohler, who tallied one goal. Kohler scored 10:18 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Dorchester. Josh Alward provided the assist. Simcoe also got points from Alward, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Simcoe came via Jamie Kelly, who had one.

Fonti recorded 33 saves for the Dolphins. For Simcoe, Brad Vervacke and Justin Tatrie were ejected from the contest.
