Delhi vanquishes Burford in shootout, 5-4 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Delhi Travellers defeated the Burford Bulldogs in a shootout 5-4 (2-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for four attempts between the teams. In addition to the clincher, Delhi got a shootout goal from Cody Stout.

The Travellers saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Delhi made the score 4-2 on a goal by Brendan Schreider at 10:37 in the third period. Burford evened things up at 4-4 on a goal by Tyler MacLaughlin at 12:43 in the third period.

Schreider was all over the ice for the Travellers, as he finished with two goals in the win.

The Bulldogs were unable to stop Delhi from sending pucks towards the net, and the Travellers eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Delhi also got a goal from Brad Ward as well. In addition, Delhi received assists from Kelsey Vanyermen, who had two and Harrison McRobert, Jeremy Jacobs, Derek Friesen, and Josh Bint, who contributed one a piece.

Burford forced Delhi goalie Nick Heath to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

The Bulldogs were led by Tyler Vandenbussche, who registered one goal and two assists. Vandenbussche scored on the power play 12:19 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Delhi. Burford also got points from JJ Haroland, who also had one goal and one assist and MacLaughlin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Guy Polillo also scored for Burford.

Heath recorded 29 saves for the Travellers. Delhi incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Don Davis made 30 saves for Burford on 34 shots. The Bulldogs incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
