Ayr rips Norfolk, 8-3

The Ayr Centennials had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-3 win over the Norfolk Rebels.

Andrew Richard was all over the ice for Ayr, as he racked up two goals in the win. Richard scored at 20:00 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Ayr and again while on the power play 2:42 into the third to make the score 5-2 Ayr.

The Centennials made Rebels' netminders to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots and forcing 36 saves. Jason Miller made 36 stops and Jason Pachieko made zero. Ayr bested its season scoring average. This season, the Centennials average 5.6 goals per contest.

Ayr also got points from Spencer Sweazy, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Alex Mutton, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Ayr included Brett Gibson, who had two and Logan Beechey and Jordan Pettitt, who scored one goal each. More assists for Ayr came via Adam Fisher, Dustin Scheer, Declan Kaster, Jimmy Roy, Nick Hirs, Mike Wilkins, and Brady Wheelans, who contributed one a piece and Connor McLeod and Alex Richard, who each chipped in two.

Norfolk was helped by Chris Murray, who had one goal. Murray scored 1:52 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Ayr. Ryan Oatway assisted on the tally. Norfolk also got a goal from Steve Parker as well. Other players who recorded assists for Norfolk were Clayton Charot, Tyler Jones, Jacob Ferreira, Ricky Johnston, and Dylan Cole, who contributed one a piece.

Ayr's Bobby Brown stopped 17 shots out of the 20 that he faced. The Centennials totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 3-for-7 on the power play. For Ayr, Brandon Christopher was ejected from the game. The Rebels incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Norfolk ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Andrew Patenaude was ejected from the game.
