Lambeth survives Lucan comeback, wins 3-1

SOJHL     Wed, Jan 09, 2013

The Lambeth Lancers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Lucan Irish on the way to a 3-1 win.

Lambeth took a 3-0 lead during the second period, only to have Lucan storm back on a Mitch Smith goal 8:42 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

The Irish were stymied by the Lancers netminder Logan Ferrington, who stopped 38 shots during the victory. The solid play of Ferrington will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.68.

Lambeth excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Lancers' offense rang up 38 shots on Lucan's net.

Lambeth was helped by Nick West, who racked up one goal. West scored 9:38 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Lambeth. Greg Douglas assisted on the tally. Mike Golinowski also scored for Lambeth.

The Irish put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Lancers to score on any of their four power plays. Lucan could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Irish put an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game. Lucan forced Lambeth goalie Ferrington to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

The Lancers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Dylan Hoover made 35 saves for the Irish on 38 shots. Lucan incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
