Tavistock survives penalties, beats Hagersville, 6-3

The Tavistock Braves, which found themselves down a man often, weathered the Hagersville Hawks' power play opportunities and emerged with a 6-3 victory.

Tavistock's offense rang up 34 shots on Hagersville's net. The Braves found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Tavistock has scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

The Braves were helped by Mac Kalbfleisch, who registered two goals. Kalbfleisch scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 4:46 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Tavistock. Tavistock earned a power play opportunity when Kyle Parsons was put in the box for slashing. Deven Kropf provided the assist. Kalbfleisch's next tally on the power play made the score 6-3 Tavistock with 1:02 left in the third period. Tavistock also got points from Kropf, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Nick Quehl also scored for Tavistock. Other players who recorded assists for Tavistock were Jeremy Munro, Matthew Lupton, and Jordan Ritsma, who each chipped in one and Charlie Malson and James McCorquodale, who contributed two a piece.

The Hawks forced the Braves goalie Tim Parker to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. Hagersville's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Hawks finished with 28 penalty minutes.

Hagersville was helped by Derek Medeiros, who racked up one goal. Medeiros scored on the power play 3:06 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Tavistock. The Hawks had gotten the advantage when Tavistock's Lupton was sent off for tripping. Mitch Green assisted on the tally. Hagersville also got a goal from Cole Martin as well. In addition, Hagersville received assists from Deacan Krause and Jacob Brown, who each chipped in one.

The Braves' Parker stopped 32 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Tavistock totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 3-for-10 on the power play. For the Braves, Garrett Fisher was ejected from the game. Matt Murphy recorded 28 saves for Hagersville. The Hawks registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
