Exeter pulls away in second, rolls over Thamesford, 6-1

The Thamesford Trojans allowed the Exeter Hawks to net four goals during the second period and fell, 6-1.

Thamesford was stymied by Exeter netminder Bryan Paolotto, who stopped 27 shots during the victory. Paolotto certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.25 entering the contest.

The Hawks were led by Kalvin Thornton, who had one goal. Thornton scored 2:00 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Exeter. Alex Deluce assisted on the tally.

Exeter made the Trojans' goaltenders to work between the pipes, finishing with 44 shots and forcing 38 saves. Grayson Templeman made 26 stops and James Champagne made 12. The Hawks found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Exeter averages 3.4 goals per contest. The Hawks found themselves short handed often, totaling 26 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays.

Exeter also had goals scored by Dylan Bedard, who had two and Trevor Thornton, Matthew McLellan, and Taylor Moir, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Exeter were Zach Anderson, Cam Purdy, and Ryan Consitt, who each chipped in one and Cody Hern and John Kingma, who contributed two a piece.

Thamesford's offense operated below it season average. The Trojans put an average of 4.8 pucks into the net per game.

Thamesford also got a goal from Kyle Walker as well. More assists for Thamesford came via Adam Levine, who had one.

Exeter registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Thamesford incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
