Tavistock rips Norfolk, 6-2SOJHL Sun, Dec 30, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Tavistock Braves had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over the Norfolk Rebels. James McCorquodale was all over the ice for Tavistock, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. McCorquodale scored the first of his two goals at 6:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Tavistock. McCorquodale's next tally made the score 6-2 Tavistock with 3:06 left in the third period. Josh Wagler picked up the assist. The Braves forced Norfolk's netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 69 shots and forcing 63 saves. Alex Stephens made 25 stops and Jason Miller made 38. Tavistock stifled the Rebels' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Braves' goal total was higher than their season average. Tavistock averages 3.6 goals per game. The Braves got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Tavistock also got points from Wagler, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Deven Kropf also scored for Tavistock. More assists for Tavistock came via Jeremy Munro, Charlie Malson, Derek Cowing, Andrew Schacht, Josh Zehr, Dylan Yantzi, and Curtis Dotzert, who contributed one a piece. Norfolk racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 11 minors and one major for 67 minutes in penalty time. The Rebels surpassed its season average of 33.0 penalty minutes per game. Norfolk kept Tavistock's goalie busy throughout the game, and Taylor VanBockel made 34 saves on 36 shots. The Rebels were led by Chris Murray, who tallied two goals. Murray scored the first of his two goals at 13:22 into the third period to make the score 5-1 Tavistock. Dylan Heaslip assisted on the tally. Murray's next tally made the score 5-2 Tavistock with 3:25 left in the third period. Nate Parker picked up the assist. In addition, Norfolk received assists from Mike Almas, who had one. The Braves totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 3-for-15 on the power play. Tavistock ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Munro was ejected from the game. Norfolk registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. Team's Drew Moore and Kurtis Pettitt were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
