Delhi vanquishes Tavistock in shootout, 3-2 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Delhi Travellers defeated the Tavistock Braves in a shootout 3-2 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for 10 attempts between the teams. Tavistock's shootout goal was scored by Charlie Irwin. Delhi also got a shootout goal from Derek Friesen.

The Travellers' offense rang up 32 shots on the Braves' net.

Delhi was helped by Jeremy Jacobs, who registered one goal. Jacobs scored 12:28 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Delhi. Brad Ward picked up the assist. Colin Streutker also scored for Delhi. In addition, Delhi received assists from Friesen, who had one.

Tavistock's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Delhi power plays.

The Braves were helped by Jake Mock, who tallied one goal. Mock scored on the power play 7:47 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Tavistock. Tavistock had gained a power play chance when Ward was whistled for charging. Josh Zehr assisted on the tally. Tavistock also got points from Derek Cowing, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Tavistock were Garrett Fisher and Nick Quehl, who each chipped in one.

Nick Heath rejected 28 shots on goal for the Travellers. Delhi incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Braves' Taylor VanBockel stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Tavistock incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Braves ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matthew Lupton was ejected from the game.
