Port Stanley boosted by Corkum's play in net, beats North Middlesex 4-1

The Port Stanley Sailors relied on the sparkling performance of Ricky Corkum in net to grab a 4-1 win against the North Middlesex Stars.

Port Stanley pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 22 penalty minutes.

The Sailors were led by Tyler Beaulieu, who tallied one goal. Beaulieu scored on the power play 9:19 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Port Stanley. Port Stanley had gained a power play chance when Trevor Perrie was whistled for handling the puck. Dan Gordon picked up the assist.

The Sailors' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight North Middlesex power plays. Port Stanley's offense rang up 36 shots on North Middlesex's net.

Port Stanley also got points from Andrew Yurek, who also had one goal and one assist. Tanner Turley also scored for Port Stanley. More assists for Port Stanley came via Tom Yurek and Luke McGuire, who contributed one a piece and Mark Brisson and Findley Brandon, who each chipped in two.

The Stars could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

North Middlesex was led by Mack Graham, who scored the team's only goal. Graham scored 18:10 into the second period to make the score 1-0 North Middlesex. Jake Alkins assisted on the tally.

Ricky Corkum made 28 saves for the Sailors on 29 shots. Port Stanley registered three goals on eight power play opportunities. Alex Foster recorded 32 saves for the Stars.
