Hagersville survives penalties, beats Wellesley, 5-2Wellesley Wed, Dec 19, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Hagersville Hawks were able to defeat the Wellesley Applejacks, 5-2. Hagersville was sparked by Jesse Ross, who registered one goal and one assist. Ross scored 17:14 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Hagersville. Jacob Brown provided the assist. Wellesley was unable to stop the Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Hagersville eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. Hagersville also had goals scored by Nick Halliday, who had two and Hayden Baird and Jacob Erwin, who scored one goal each. In addition, Hagersville received assists from Mitch Green, who had one and Brad Hornby and Derek Medeiros, who each chipped in two. The Applejacks could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Wellesley puts an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. The Applejacks' offense rang up 35 shots on the Hawks' net. Wellesley was helped by Cody Tapsell, who had one goal. Tapsell scored 3:11 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Taylor Doering picked up the assist. Troy Williams also scored for Wellesley. Other players who recorded assists for Wellesley were Josh Herd, Corey Way, and Patrick Wiejak, who contributed one a piece. Hagersville's Mitch Knight stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Hawks incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Josh Heer made 39 saves for the Applejacks on 44 shots. Wellesley incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
