Port Stanley downs Lambeth in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Austin Blais gave the Port Stanley Sailors a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Lambeth Lancers when he scored 2:51 into the extra period.

Josh Tremblay had two goals and three assists to lead Port Stanley. Tremblay scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:45 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Port Stanley. The Sailors had gained a power play chance when Riley Gilmore was whistled for roughing. Findley Brandon provided the assist. Tremblay's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 11:22 left in the second period. A cross checking penalty on Justin Clark had put Port Stanley on the power play. Brandon picked up the assist.

The Sailors' offense rang up 57 shots on Lambeth's net. Team could not crack the Lancers' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

Port Stanley also got a goal from Mark Fraser as well. More assists for Port Stanley came via Drew Eaton, who had one.

Lambeth forced Port Stanley's goalies to work without much rest, launching 36 shots and forcing 32 saves. Ricky Corkum made 16 stops and Brandon Garner made 16. The Lancers' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Lambeth averages 2.4 goals allowed per game. The Lancers' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Lambeth finished with 28 penalty minutes.

The Lancers were helped by Mike Golinowski, who registered two goals and one assist. Golinowski scored the first of his two goals short handed at 8:15 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Lambeth. Warren Hargraves provided the assist. Golinowski's next tally short handed made the score 4-3 Lambeth with 4:00 left in the second period. Brandon Robbins assisted on the tally. Lambeth additionally got points from Robbins, who also racked up one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Conor Chilvers also scored for Lambeth. Other players who recorded assists for Lambeth were Ryan Pennington, who had two.

The Sailors incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Port Stanley ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mark Brisson was ejected from the game. JP Trudell recorded 52 saves for Lambeth. The Lancers registered two goals on six power play opportunities.
