Huge game by Mock boosts Tavistock over Hagersville, 6-0

The Tavistock Braves' Jake Mock had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 6-0 win over the Hagersville Hawks.

Mock's tallies came on the power play at 16:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Tavistock and on the power play 18:11 into the first to make the score 2-0 Tavistock.

Tavistock's penalty kill excelled, as the Braves gave up zero goals despite allowing 10 power plays.

Tavistock was often in penalty trouble, totaling nine minors and one major for 43 minutes in penalty time. The Braves surpassed its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. Tavistock made Hawks' netminders to work in net, getting 46 shots and forcing 40 saves. Mitch Knight made 31 stops and Matt Murphy made nine. The Braves stifled Hagersville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Tavistock featured an improved defense during the game. The Braves allow 3.0 goals per game. Tavistock's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Braves average 3.7 goals per contest.

Tavistock also got points from Andrew Schacht, who also registered one goal and two assists. Tavistock also had goals scored by Curtis Dotzert, who had one and Derek Cowing, who had two. In addition, Tavistock received assists from Josh Zehr, who had one.

The Hawks forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 11 minors and one major for 47 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 25.0 minutes per game Hagersville had been spending in the box. The Hawks did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Hagersville averages 4.9 goals per game.

Tim Parker rejected 21 shots on goal for Tavistock. The Braves registered two goals on 11 power play opportunities. For Tavistock, Charlie Malson and Garrett Fisher were ejected from the contest. The Hawks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Derek Medeiros was ejected from the game.
