Mt.Brydges vanquishes Thamesford in shootout, 6-5 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Mt.Brydges Bulldogs defeated the Thamesford Trojans in a shootout 6-5 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured six attempts between both teams.

Thamesford's power play was ineffective against Mt.Brydges' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Bulldogs made the Trojans' netminders to work without much rest, totaling 47 shots and forcing 41 saves. Grayson Templeman made 16 stops and James Champagne made 25. Mt.Brydges found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Bulldogs have scored at the pace of 3.5 goals per game during the current campaign.

Mt.Brydges was led by David Wade, who finished with three goals. Mt.Brydges additionally got points from Grant Johns, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Sean Candler also scored for Mt.Brydges. In addition, Mt.Brydges received assists from Ryan Battersby, who had one and Jeremy Denomme and Mike Frizzell, who contributed two a piece.

Thamesford's offense rang up 44 shots on the Bulldogs' net.

The Trojans were helped by Fabio Galante, who had two goals. Galante scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 16:03 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Mt.Brydges. Thamesford had gotten the advantage when Mt.Brydges' Frizzell was sent off for roughing. Adam Levine provided the assist. Galante's next tally on the power play made the score 5-5 with 1:09 left in the third period. Levine assisted on the tally. Thamesford also got points from Justin Cooper, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Thamesford also got a goal from Mike Nutt APM as well. More assists for Thamesford came via Ben Kirwin, Dakota Hill, and Paul Grasby, who each chipped in one.

Alexander Markowski recorded 39 saves for the Bulldogs. Mt.Brydges incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Trojans incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
