Tavistock rides VanBockel to victory over Burford, 2-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Taylor VanBockel helped the Tavistock Braves defeat the Burford Bulldogs, 2-1.

Tavistock was sparked by Charlie Irwin, who tallied one goal. Irwin scored 2:58 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Tavistock. Brandon Kalbfleisch picked up the assist.

Matthew Lupton also scored for Tavistock. Other players who recorded assists for Tavistock were Jeremy Munro and Derek Cowing, who each chipped in one.

Burford stifled the Braves' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bulldogs did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Burford averages 5.1 goals per game.

The Bulldogs were led by Tyler MacLaughlin, who scored the team's only goal. MacLaughlin scored 7:14 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Tavistock. JJ Haroland assisted on the tally.

Taylor VanBockel made 27 saves for Tavistock on 28 shots. The Braves finished the contest with no penalties and went 0-for-4 with the man advantage. Don Davis recorded 27 saves for Burford. The Bulldogs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors and had no power play opportunities.
