Dorchester shrugs off penalties, upends Exeter, 3-1

The Dorchester Dolphins, which found themselves down a man often, weathered the Exeter Hawks' power play opportunities and emerged with a 3-1 victory.

Dorchester was led by Brendon O Shaughnessy, who tallied one goal. O Shaughnessy scored 14:28 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Dorchester. Tyler Blue provided the assist.

The Dolphins forced Exeter goalie Bryan Paolotto to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. Dorchester struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 27 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays.

Dorchester also got points from Jacob Baribeau, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Patrick Freel, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Dorchester came via Chad Brulotte, who had one.

The Hawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Exeter did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Hawks average 3.3 goals per game.

Exeter was led by John Kingma, who scored the team's only goal. Kingma scored on the power play 12:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Exeter. The Hawks had gotten the advantage when the Dolphins' Jesiah Sweetland was sent off for head contact. Matthew McLellan picked up the assist.

Alex Hutcheson rejected 23 shots on goal for Dorchester. The Dolphins ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matt Cormier was ejected from the game. Paolotto recorded 38 saves for Exeter. The Hawks ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. For Exeter, Carter Austin (FAPM) was ejected from the game.
