Mt.Brydges rolls over North Middlesex, 10-1

The Mt.Brydges Bulldogs were firing on all cylinders against the North Middlesex Stars, and when the final buzzer sounded Bulldogs emerged with a 10-1 win.

North Middlesex fell victim to a deadly Mt.Brydges power play, which ripped the Stars for four goals.

The Bulldogs were led by Matt Dacosta, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Dacosta scored 10:36 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Mt.Brydges. Spencer Wilson assisted on the tally.

Mt.Brydges made North Middlesex's netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 31 shots and forcing 21 saves. Ryan Swartzentruber made 20 stops and Alex Foster made one. The Bulldogs bested their season scoring average. Mt.Brydges averages 3.5 goals per game.

Mt.Brydges also got points from Grant Johns, who also tallied two goals and three assists to lead the team in points, Sean Candler, who also had one goal and one assist, and Cameron Dewan, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Mt.Brydges included Hayden Trbizan, who had one and Tony Lindner, who had four. Other players who recorded assists for Mt.Brydges were Connor Dunn, David Wade, Jeremy Denomme, Ryan Battersby, and Robert Mapes, who contributed one a piece.

The the Stars penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. North Middlesex had been averaging 29.0 minutes in penalties per game.

The Stars were led by Michael Quinn, who scored the team's only goal. Quinn scored 17:49 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Mt.Brydges. Mike Sharpe picked up the assist.

Eric Steinman made 23 saves for the Bulldogs on 24 shots. Mt.Brydges ended with seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major. For the Bulldogs, Candler was ejected from the game. North Middlesex registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. The Stars ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jeremy Vandeven was ejected from the game.
