Woodstock falls apart in second, loses to Tavistock, 8-3Tavistock Sat, Dec 01, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Woodstock was within striking distance after one period, but the Tavistock Braves put the pedal down in the second en route to an 8-3 victory. Jordan Ritsma had two goals and two assists to lead Tavistock. Ritsma scored the first of his two goals at 13:18 into the second period to make the score 4-0 Tavistock. Deven Kropf provided the assist. Ritsma's next tally made the score 5-0 Tavistock with 5:52 left in the second period. James McCorquodale picked up the assist. The Braves made Woodstock's netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 56 shots and forcing 48 saves. Michael Roefs made 30 stops and Kyle Sephton made 18. Tavistock found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Braves average 3.8 goals per contest. Tavistock had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on 13 chances. The Braves were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 26 penalty minutes. Tavistock also got points from Charlie Malson, who also registered one goal and three assists and Kropf, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Tavistock also got a goal from Garrett Fisher as well. In addition, Tavistock received assists from Matthew Lupton, who had two and Brandon Kalbfleisch, Derek Cowing, and Dylan Yantzi, who each chipped in one. Woodstock could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 40 minutes in penalties during the game. Woodstock was led by Christian Babb, who finished with two goals. Babb scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:26 into the third period to make the score 5-1 Tavistock. A cross checking penalty on Lupton had put Woodstock on the power play. Jake Schneider assisted on the tally. Babb's next tally on the power play made the score 5-2 Tavistock with 15:08 left in the third period. Alec Durham picked up the assist. Matt Jauernig also scored for Woodstock. More assists for Woodstock came via Cole Malatches, Mackenzie Langford, and Tyler Lyons, who contributed one a piece. Tim Parker rejected 16 shots on goal for Tavistock. Woodstock registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Woodstock ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Roefs was ejected from the game.
