Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Thamesford Trojans defeated the Dorchester Dolphins in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO). The shootout featured five attempts between both teams.Thamesford came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Trojans fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Dorchester's Connor Lovell at 4:13 in the second period. Thamesford knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Adam Levine at 18:53 in the third period. The Trojans' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Dorchester power plays. Thamesford's offense rang up 37 shots on the Dolphins' net. Other players who recorded assists for Thamesford were James Toye and Kyle Walker, who each chipped in two. Dorchester racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The Dolphins surpassed its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game. Dorchester stifled the Trojans' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Dolphins did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Dorchester puts an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. The Dolphins kept Thamesford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Grayson Templeman made 36 saves on 38 shots. In addition, Dorchester received assists from Matt Cormier, who had one and Tyler Vere, who had two. The Trojans totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-7 on the power play. For Thamesford, Andrew McLennan was ejected from the game. Dorchester's Jake Fonti stopped 34 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Dolphins ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brady Veroughstraete was ejected from the game.
