Heer stymies Delhi, Wellesley wins 4-1Wellesley Sun, Dec 30, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Josh Heer had a standout game with 31 saves, and the Wellesley Applejacks beat the Delhi Travellers 4-1. Wellesley's penalty kill excelled, as the Applejacks gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays. Wellesley forced Delhi goalie Nick Heath to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. The Applejacks were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 30 penalty minutes. Wellesley was led by Corey Way, who grabbed two goals. Way scored the first of his two goals short handed at 28 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-0 Wellesley. Brett MacDonald assisted on the tally. Way's next tally short handed made the score 3-0 Wellesley with 16:39 left in the third period. The Applejacks earned a power play opportunity when Jamie Newell was put in the box for holding. Mark Detzler picked up the assist. Michael Pollice also scored for Wellesley. More assists for Wellesley came via Jake Ariss, Reid Denstedt, Luke Rose, and Justin Lebold, who each chipped in one. The Travellers could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Delhi puts an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. Wellesley was unable to stop the Travellers from sending pucks towards the net, and Delhi eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. The Applejacks registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Heath recorded 29 saves for the Travellers. Delhi incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
