Lambeth shrugs off penalties, upends Exeter, 4-1

The Exeter Hawks failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Lambeth Lancers shook off a number of penalties to win, 4-1.

Lambeth was led by Warren Hargraves, who tallied one goal and one assist. Hargraves scored 6:55 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Lambeth.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 14:38 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Lancers were often in penalty trouble, totaling nine minors and two majors for 38 minutes in penalty time. Lambeth surpassed its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game. The Lancers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on nine Exeter power plays. Lambeth forced Exeter goalie Bryan Paolotto to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Lambeth also got points from Tanner Smith, who also had one goal and one assist. Lambeth also got a goal from Mike Golinowski as well. More assists for Lambeth came via JP Trudell, Nick West, Brandon Robbins, and Justin Clark, who each chipped in one.

The Hawks were held below their usual level of production. Exeter puts an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game.

The Hawks were led by Dylan Bedard, who scored the team's only goal. Bedard scored 5:22 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Matthew McLellan picked up the assist.

Trudell rejected 20 shots on goal for the Lancers. Lambeth registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For the Lancers, Kyle Huston and Derek Courtney were ejected from the contest. Paolotto recorded 32 saves for Exeter. The Hawks ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major. For Exeter, Bedard was ejected from the game.
