Dorchester beats Mt.Brydges 4-2 after comeback scare

The Mt.Brydges Bulldogs tried their best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the Dorchester Dolphins would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2.

A goal by Brendon O Shaughnessy put Dorchester up 4-0 in the third period, but Mt.Brydges pulled to within two on Spencer Wilson's tally 19:19 into the third period.

Liam Gillooly was all over the ice for the Dolphins, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Gillooly scored the first of his two goals short handed at 8:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dorchester. Dorchester found itself down a man on Brady Veroughstraete's tripping. Matt Johnson picked up the assist. Gillooly's next tally short handed made the score 2-0 Dorchester with 9:22 left in the first period. The Dolphins had taken the advantage when the Bulldogs' Wilson got sent off for head contact. O Shaughnessy provided the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 28 seconds into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Dorchester stifled Mt.Brydges' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bulldogs were unable to stop the Dolphins from sending pucks towards the net, and Dorchester eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

Dorchester also got points from O Shaughnessy, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Dorchester also got a goal from Jacob Baribeau as well. In addition, Dorchester received assists from Patrick Freel, who had one and Jordan Fuller, who had two.

Mt.Brydges' offense rang up 48 shots on the Dolphins' net.

Mt.Brydges additionally got points from Tony Lindner, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Mt.Brydges were Grant Johns, Ryan Battersby, and Matt Dacosta, who each chipped in one.

Dorchester's Alex Hutcheson stopped 46 shots out of the 48 that he faced. The Dolphins totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. Dorchester ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jeff Risdon was ejected from the game. Eric Steinman made 37 saves for the Bulldogs on 41 shots. Mt.Brydges totaled 31 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. For the Bulldogs, Grant Duffield was ejected from the game.
