Hagersville rolls over Norfolk, 8-2

The Hagersville Hawks had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-2 win over the Norfolk Rebels.

Cole Martin had one goal and two assists to lead Hagersville. Martin scored short handed 18:08 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Hagersville. The Hawks found themselves down a man on Dan Stewart's hooking.

Norfolk's power play was ineffective against Hagersville's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Hawks forced Rebels' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 43 shots and forcing 35 saves. Jason Miller made 15 stops and Alex Tipping made 20. Hagersville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Norfolk power plays. The Hawks surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Hagersville has scored at the pace of 5.0 goals per game during the current campaign. The Hawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

Hagersville also got points from Eric Drehmer, who also registered one goal and one assist, Nick Halliday, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Jesse Ross, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Hayden Baird, who also had one goal and one assist, and Derek Medeiros, who also registered one goal and two assists. Hagersville also got a goal from Jacob Erwin as well. In addition, Hagersville received assists from Marshall Greenham, Jacob Brown, and Kyle Parsons, who contributed one a piece.

The Rebels found themselves short handed often, totaling 26 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.

Kurtis Pettitt also scored for Norfolk. More assists for Norfolk came via Tyler Jones, Steve Parker, Nate Parker, and Joshua Slegers, who each chipped in one.

Curtis AP Dortenzio made 20 saves for Hagersville on 22 shots.
