Tavistock wins tough contest against Delhi, 5-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Tavistock Braves escaped with a 5-3 victory over the Delhi Travellers.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Jordan Ritsma at 43 seconds of the second period.

Tavistock was led by Mac Kalbfleisch, who finished with one goal and one assist. Kalbfleisch scored on the power play 1:09 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Tavistock. Derek Cowing assisted on the tally.

The Braves' offense rang up 32 shots on Delhi's net. Tavistock could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

Tavistock also got points from Charlie Malson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Tavistock also got a goal from Brandon Kalbfleisch as well. Other players who recorded assists for Tavistock were Garrett Fisher and Josh Zehr, who each chipped in one.

The Travellers had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 10 chances.

Delhi was helped by Travis Harper, who racked up one goal. Harper scored on the power play 4:59 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Tavistock. The Travellers had taken the advantage when the Braves' Kalbfleisch got sent off for tripping. Colin Streutker also scored for Delhi. More assists for Delhi came via Harrison McRobert, Josh Bradshaw, and Cody Stout, who contributed one a piece.

Tim Parker rejected 17 shots on goal for Tavistock. The Braves registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Delhi's Joe Drexler stopped 27 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Travellers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
