Thamesford beats Exeter 4-3 after comeback scare

The Thamesford Trojans survived a determined comeback attempt by the Exeter Hawks on the way to a 4-3 win.

A goal by Kyle Walker put Thamesford up 4-1 in the second period, but Exeter pulled to within one on Dan Lawson's tally 2:29 into the third period.

Adam Levine was all over the ice for the Trojans, as he tallied two goals in the win. Levine found the back of the net on the power play 7:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Thamesford and again while short handed 7:38 into the second to make the score 3-1 Thamesford.

Thamesford excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Hawks were unable to stop the Trojans from sending pucks towards the net, and Thamesford eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Thamesford additionally got points from Walker, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Thamesford also got a goal from Kyle Davis as well. In addition, Thamesford received assists from James Toye, who had two and Ben Kirwin, who had three.

Exeter's offense rang up 31 shots on the Trojans' net. The Hawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.

Exeter was helped by Wesley McGovern, who finished with one goal. McGovern scored 13:48 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Thamesford. Kalvin Thornton also scored for Exeter. Other players who recorded assists for Exeter were Taylor Moir and John Kingma, who contributed one a piece.

James Champagne recorded 28 saves for Thamesford. The Trojans incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Thamesford, Fabio Galante was ejected from the game. The Hawks' Colton James stopped 30 shots out of the 34 that he faced.
