Lucan wins tough contest against Dorchester, 4-3

The game between the Lucan Irish and the Dorchester Dolphins was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Lucan emerged with a 4-3 win.

The Irish gained the winning advantage on a goal by Jordan Vanderwel 13:15 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Lucan was led by Vanderwel, who had one goal.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 11:03 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Dorchester was unable to stop the Irish from sending pucks towards the net, and Lucan eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. The Irish could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 31 minutes in penalties during the game. Lucan was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to one goal off of 10 man advantages. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Lucan also got a goal from Mitch Read as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lucan were Cullen Harper, Dylan Murray, Wes Huston, and Colin Hartwick, who each chipped in one.

The Dolphins forced the Irish goalie Dylan Hoover to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Dorchester's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Dolphins finished with 30 penalty minutes. Dorchester had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 10 chances.

The Dolphins were helped by Chad Brulotte, who racked up one goal. Brulotte scored on the power play 7:34 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Dorchester. Dorchester had taken the advantage when Lucan's Huston got sent off for roughing. Connor Lovell also scored for Dorchester. In addition, Dorchester received assists from Matt Johnson and Jordan Fuller, who contributed one a piece.

The Irish's Hoover stopped 36 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Lucan ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Harper was ejected from the game. Jake Fonti made 36 saves for the Dolphins on 40 shots. For Dorchester, Shayne Rhyno and Tyler Vere were ejected from the contest.
