Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Port Stanley Sailors defeated the Lucan Irish in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO). The shootout featured eight attempts between both teams. Lucan's shootout goal was scored by Fraser Lewis. In addition to the clincher, Port Stanley got a shootout goal from Tyler Beaulieu.The Sailors came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Port Stanley was down 3-1 after a goal by the Irish's Colin Nancekivell at 12:04 in the third period. The Sailors knotted things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Zak Jukna at 19:11 in the third period. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 15:19 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Port Stanley was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and two majors for 36 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 30.0 minutes per game the Sailors had been spending in the box. Port Stanley excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Sailors' offense rang up 39 shots on Lucan's net. Port Stanley was helped by Tyson Corkum, who tallied one goal. Corkum scored 3:38 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Tanner Turley picked up the assist. Port Stanley additionally got points from Derek Finlay, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Port Stanley came via Taylor McArthur and Beaulieu, who each chipped in one. The Irish forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 13 minors and two majors for 46 minutes in penalty time. Lucan surpassed its season average of 30.0 penalty minutes per game. The Sailors were unable to stop the Irish from sending pucks towards the net, and Lucan eventually piled up 52 shots on goal. The Irish were helped by Dylan Moss, who finished with one goal. Moss scored short handed 9:35 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Lucan. Lucan found itself down a man on Cullen Harper's high sticking. Dylan Murray assisted on the tally. Lucan also got points from Mitch Smith, who also registered one goal and one assist and Nancekivell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Lucan were Matt Curtis, who had one. Brandon Garner rejected 49 shots on goal for Port Stanley. The Sailors registered two goals on 10 power play opportunities. Team's Ryan McDonnell, Luke McGuire, and Mark Brisson were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Dylan Hoover made 35 saves for the Irish on 38 shots. For Lucan, Dylan Symons and Curtis were ejected from the contest.
