The Port Stanley Sailors relied on the scoring touch of Josh Tremblay, who netted two goals, to beat the Lucan Irish, 6-1. Tremblay's tallies came on the power play at 4:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Port Stanley and 8:15 into the first to make the score 2-1 Port Stanley.Port Stanley's Brandon Garner was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 39 saves and let only one puck past him. Garner certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.23 entering the contest. Lucan's power play was ineffective against the Sailors' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 5:19 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Port Stanley made the Irish's goaltenders to work between the pipes, launching 45 shots and forcing 39 saves. Dylan Hoover made 26 stops and Joseph Frustaglio made 13. The Sailors put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Lucan to score on any of its six power plays. Port Stanley was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 31 penalty minutes. Port Stanley also got points from Tyson Corkum, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Port Stanley also got a goal from Dan Gordon as well. Other players who recorded assists for Port Stanley were Graham Silcox, Ryan McDonnell, Luke McGuire, and Findley Brandon, who each chipped in one. The the Irish penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 10 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 30.0 minutes per game Lucan had been spending in the box. The Irish's offense operated below they season average. Lucan puts an average of 3.7 pucks into the net per game. The Irish's offense rang up 40 shots on the Sailors' net. Lucan was led by Wes Huston, who scored the team's only goal. Huston scored 5:55 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Mitch Read assisted on the tally. Port Stanley registered three goals on eight power play opportunities. For the Sailors, Mark Brisson was ejected from the game. The Irish ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Colin Hartwick was ejected from the game.
