Chippawa falls to Burford in overtime, 6-5 (OT)Burford Community Centre Sun, Nov 04, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Burford Bulldogs' JJ Haroland scored 25 seconds into overtime to beat Chippawa, 6-5 (OT). The Burford penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled nine minors and one major for 63 minutes in penalty time. The Bulldogs had been averaging 26.0 minutes in penalties per game. Burford forced Chippawa goalie David Johnston to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The Bulldogs were led by Kyle Chaney, who racked up two goals. Chaney scored the first of his two goals short handed at 15:49 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Burford. Burford was on a disadvantage when Jim Salatas went off the ice for head contact. Peter Janeck picked up the assist. Chaney's next tally short handed made the score 5-5 with 1:03 left in the third period. Tyler Vandenbussche provided the assist. Burford also got a goal from Pat Bates as well. In addition, Burford received assists from Eric Lucente, Michael Thomlison, and Adam Harris, who contributed one a piece. Chippawa was led by Josh Kozielski, who registered two goals. Kozielski scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 15:59 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Burford. Chippawa had gotten the advantage when the Bulldogs' Andrew Schunk was sent off for hooking. Brayden Stortz picked up the assist. Kozielski's next tally on the power play made the score 4-4 with 10:16 left in the third period. Chippawa earned a power play opportunity when Salatas was put in the box for abuse of officials. Alex Cipriano assisted on the tally. Chippawa also got points from Dylan Lazarus, who also had one goal and one assist. Kyle Robertson also scored for Chippawa. Other players who recorded assists for Chippawa were Curtis Sauve and Chris Maione, who each chipped in one. Ben Beechey made 25 saves for Burford on 30 shots. The Bulldogs registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Johnston recorded 30 saves for Chippawa. Chippawa incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
