Port Stanley boosted by Garner's play in net, beats Exeter 4-1

The Port Stanley Sailors relied on the sparkling performance of Brandon Garner in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Exeter Hawks.

Port Stanley was paced by Tyler Beaulieu, who tallied one goal and one assist. Beaulieu scored 6:43 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Port Stanley. Andrew Yurek provided the assist.

The Sailors excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Port Stanley kept Exeter's goalie busy throughout the game, and Bryan Paolotto made 33 saves on 37 shots.

Port Stanley also got points from Mark Brisson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Drew Eaton also scored for Port Stanley. Other players who recorded assists for Port Stanley were Dan Gordon, Mark Fraser, and Tyson Corkum, who each chipped in one.

The Hawks could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Exeter puts an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. The Sailors were unable to stop the Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Exeter eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Port Stanley's Garner stopped 35 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Sailors incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Hawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
