Huge game by Streutker boosts Delhi over Wellesley, 8-4

The Delhi Travellers' Colin Streutker had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 8-4 win over the Wellesley Applejacks.

Streutker found the back of the net 10:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Delhi and again while 11:11 into the first to make the score 2-0 Delhi.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 6:07 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Delhi was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The Travellers had been averaging 20.0 minutes in penalties per game. Delhi made Applejacks' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 33 shots and forcing 25 saves. Trevor Olender made 11 stops and Josh Heer made 14. The Travellers outdid their season average for goals scored. Delhi has scored at the pace of 5.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

Delhi also got points from Cody Stout, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Jeremy Jacobs, who also racked up two goals and one assist to lead the team in points, and Jordan Belanger, who also registered one goal and one assist. Delhi also got a goal from Mike DeCoene as well. Other players who recorded assists for Delhi were Jake Durrant, Travis Harper, Derek Friesen, Josh Bint, Jamie Newell, and Colin VanDale, who each chipped in one and Harrison McRobert and Brad Ward, who contributed two a piece.

Wellesley was led by Corey Way, who had one goal and two assists. Way scored on the power play 11:27 into the third period to make the score 6-3 Delhi. A cross checking penalty on Ward had put the Applejacks on the power play. Mat Toncrac assisted on the tally. Wellesley additionally got points from Troy Williams, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Reid Denstedt, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Connor McLeod also scored for Wellesley. More assists for Wellesley came via Tyler Eckert, who had one and Steve Tait, who had two.

The Travellers' Nick Heath stopped 25 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Delhi registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For the Travellers, Durrant was ejected from the game. Wellesley totaled 27 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. The Applejacks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Coleton Madge was ejected from the game.
