Ayr rips Tavistock, 8-3Tavistock Fri, Nov 02, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Tavistock Braves had trouble finding ways to stop the Ayr Centennials, which beat Braves, 8-3. Brandon Christopher had two goals and one assist to lead Ayr. Christopher scored the first of his two goals at 7:21 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Christopher's next tally made the score 3-2 Ayr with 7:43 left in the first period. Brett Gibson picked up the assist. The Centennials pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 16 penalty minutes. Ayr put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Tavistock to score on any of its seven power plays. The Braves were unable to stop the Centennials from sending pucks towards the net, and Ayr eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. The Centennials outdid their season average for goals scored. Ayr averages 5.4 goals per game. Ayr additionally got points from Jordan Eby, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Gibson, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Ayr also had goals scored by Adam Fisher, who had two and Dustin Scheer and Declan Kaster, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Ayr were Syd Saunders, who had two and Nick Hirs and Nathan Redford, who each chipped in one. Tavistock got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. The Braves were helped by James McCorquodale, who registered one goal. McCorquodale scored 7:46 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Tavistock. Mac Kalbfleisch provided the assist. Matthew Lupton also scored for Tavistock. In addition, Tavistock received assists from Charlie Malson and Andrew Schacht, who contributed one a piece. Bobby Brown rejected 25 shots on goal for the Centennials. Ayr registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Taylor VanBockel recorded 23 saves for Tavistock. The Braves incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
