Mt.Brydges uses shootout to best North Middlesex, 5-4 (3-2 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Mt.Brydges Bulldogs defeated the North Middlesex Stars in a shootout 5-4 (3-2 SO).

The shootout lasted for 14 attempts between the teams. North Middlesex got shootout goals from Zak MacNaught and Tommy Prokes. Mt.Brydges' other shootout goals were scored by Grant Johns and Sean Candler.

The Bulldogs came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Mt.Brydges fell behind 2-0 after a goal by the Stars' Rene Brideau at 11:18 in the first period. The Bulldogs knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Mike Frizzell at 15:54 in the third period.

Mt.Brydges forced North Middlesex goalie Ryan Swartzentruber to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots.

Mt.Brydges also got points from Johns, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Mt.Brydges also got a goal from Connor Dunn as well. More assists for Mt.Brydges came via Candler, who had three and Hayden Trbizan and Ryan Battersby, who contributed one a piece.

The Stars' offense rang up 31 shots on the Bulldogs' net.

North Middlesex was helped by Jeremy Vandeven, who racked up one goal. Vandeven scored 2:11 into the third period to make the score 3-3. MacNaught picked up the assist. Spencer Kading also scored for North Middlesex. In addition, North Middlesex received assists from Nolan Vlasman and Mike Sharpe, who each chipped in one and Taylor Rioux and Prokes, who contributed two a piece.

Eric Steinman rejected 27 shots on goal for Mt.Brydges. The Bulldogs incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Swartzentruber recorded 40 saves for the Stars. North Middlesex incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. For the Stars, Sharpe was ejected from the game.
