Denstedt's big game bests Norfolk in 6-2 Wellesley win

Reid Denstedt had two goals and two assists to lead the Wellesley Applejacks to a 6-2 victory over the Norfolk Rebels.

Denstedt found the back of the net short handed 2:22 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Wellesley and again while short handed 18:32 into the third to make the score 6-2 Wellesley.

Wellesley's penalty kill excelled, as the Applejacks gave up zero goals despite allowing 10 power plays.

Wellesley stifled Norfolk's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Applejacks forced the Rebels goalie Jason Miller to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. Wellesley bested its season scoring average. The Applejacks average 3.8 goals per game. Wellesley could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

Wellesley also got points from Shawn Fitzpatrick, who also finished with two goals and two assists and Luke Rose, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Wellesley also got a goal from Steve Tait as well. More assists for Wellesley came via Cody Tapsell, who had two and Jake Steenson, Coleton Madge, and Devon Wagner, who contributed one a piece.

Norfolk's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Wellesley power plays. The Rebels kept the Applejacks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Josh Heer made 29 saves on 31 shots.

Norfolk was helped by Dylan Cole, who racked up one goal. Cole scored 13:47 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Brayden Dickinson provided the assist. Andrew Patenaude also scored for Norfolk. Other players who recorded assists for Norfolk were Clayton Charot, Kurtis Pettitt, and Kent Wardell, who each chipped in one.

For Wellesley, Josh Herd was ejected from the game. The Rebels' Miller stopped 36 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Norfolk incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Rebels ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Patenaude was ejected from the game.
