Tavistock rolls over Woodstock, 4-0Woodstock Community Center Fri, Oct 26, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Tavistock Braves were firing on all cylinders against Woodstock, and when the final buzzer sounded Braves emerged with a 4-0 win. Woodstock's power play was ineffective against Tavistock's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Braves were led by Charlie Malson, who had one goal. Malson scored on the power play 7:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Tavistock. Tavistock earned a power play opportunity when Drew Moore was put in the box for tripping. Jordan Ritsma provided the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 18:24 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Braves were often in penalty trouble, totaling 11 minors and one major for 47 minutes in penalty time. Tavistock surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. The Braves stifled Woodstock's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Tavistock also got points from Derek Cowing, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Tavistock also got a goal from Mack Gingerich as well. More assists for Tavistock came via Jeremy Munro, Jared Yantzi AP, and Mac Kalbfleisch, who each chipped in one. Woodstock's penalty kill unit could not stop Tavistock's power play, which converted on two of three opportunities. Woodstock was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 31 penalty minutes. Tim Parker recorded 20 saves for the Braves. Tavistock ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Charlie Irwin was ejected from the game. Michael Roefs made 22 saves for Woodstock on 26 shots. Team's Kyle Jones and Curtis Cartmel were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
