Burford squeaks by Tavistock, 3-2

The Burford Bulldogs gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Tavistock Braves.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Ryan White secured the win for Burford with a goal in the third period.

The Bulldogs' penalty kill excelled, as Burford gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays.

The Bulldogs were led by White, who finished with one goal. White scored 14:34 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Burford.

Burford forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 27.0 minutes per game the Bulldogs had been spending in the box. Burford stifled Tavistock's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bulldogs did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Burford averages 5.6 goals per game. The Braves were unable to stop the Bulldogs from sending pucks towards the net, and Burford eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

Burford also got a goal from JJ Haroland as well.

Tavistock's offense rang up 41 shots on the Bulldogs' net.

The Braves were helped by Nick Quehl, who registered one goal. Quehl scored 6:31 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Tavistock. Jordan Ritsma assisted on the tally. Tyson Zehr AP also scored for Tavistock. Other players who recorded assists for Tavistock were Charlie Malson, Mack Gingerich, and Dylan Yantzi, who contributed one a piece.

Don Davis rejected 39 shots on goal for Burford. The Bulldogs registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Burford ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Scott Pennwarden was ejected from the game. Tavistock's Taylor VanBockel stopped 39 shots out of the 42 that he faced. The Braves ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. For Tavistock, Malson was ejected from the game.
