Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Exeter Hawks defeated the Lucan Irish in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO). The two teams needed five turns to complete the shootout.Exeter saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. The Hawks made the score 3-1 on a goal by Mitch Wild at 19:54 in the first period. Lucan evened things up at 3-3 on a goal by Riley Orchard at 5:59 in the third period. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 6:41 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Exeter forced the Irish goalie Dylan Hoover to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. Exeter additionally got points from Brodie Balcom, who also had one goal and one assist and Kalvin Thornton, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Exeter came via Matthew McLellan, who had one and Cam Jude, who had two. Lucan's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Exeter power plays. Lucan ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Fraser Lewis was ejected from the game.
