Christopher leads Ayr over Hagersville, 7-4

The Ayr Centennials' Brandon Christopher had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 7-4 win over the Hagersville Hawks.

Christopher's tallies came at 19:47 into the first period to make the score 4-0 Ayr and on the power play 4:32 into the second to make the score 5-1 Ayr.

The Ayr penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 11 minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The Centennials had been averaging 33.0 minutes in penalties per game. Ayr made Hawks' goaltenders to work without much rest, taking 43 shots and forcing 36 saves. Justin Paccheco made 14 stops and Tommy Accordal AP made 22. The Centennials had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on nine chances. Ayr got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Ayr also got points from Jon Witt, who also had one goal and one assist, Nick Hirs, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Alex Mutton, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Nathan Redford, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Ayr also got a goal from Ben Poort as well. In addition, Ayr received assists from Logan Beechey, who had two and Jordan Eby and Alex Richard, who each chipped in one.

Hagersville was often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and one major for 45 minutes in penalty time. The Hawks surpassed its season average of 39.0 penalty minutes per game. Hagersville's offense rang up 38 shots on the Centennials' net. Team could not crack Ayr's penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

The Hawks were helped by Aleck Boyd, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Boyd scored 55 seconds into the second period to make the score 4-1 Ayr. Ryan McLaren assisted on the tally. Hagersville additionally got points from Deacan Krause, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Jesse Ross also scored for Hagersville. Other players who recorded assists for Hagersville were Jacob Erwin and Derek Medeiros, who contributed one a piece.

The Centennials' Bobby Brown stopped 34 shots out of the 38 that he faced. For Ayr, Hunter Moore, Zack Taylor, and Redford were ejected from the contest. For Hagersville, Rob Clause was ejected from the game.
