Kalvin Thornton had one goal and three assists to lead the Exeter Hawks to a 7-2 victory over the North Middlesex Stars. Thornton scored on the power play 15:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Exeter. A slashing penalty on Brock Pinnell had put Exeter on the power play. Mitch Wild provided the assist. Thornton dished an assist on Brodie Balcom's goal that made the score 4-0 Exeter at 15:16 into the second period. He then added assists on Dan Lawson's goal at 7:43 into the third and on Cam Jude's goal at 16:20 into the third.Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 18:53 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Hawks forced North Middlesex goalie Bobby Raine to work between the pipes, taking 52 shots. Exeter outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Hawks average 3.8 goals per contest. Exeter's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Hawks finished with 34 penalty minutes. Exeter also got points from Jude, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Dylan Bedard also scored for Exeter. Other players who recorded assists for Exeter were Devon Elliott, who had one. The Stars' offense rang up 42 shots on Exeter's net. North Middlesex could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game. North Middlesex also got a goal from Ben Lawton as well. More assists for North Middlesex came via Rene Brideau, Greg Masschelein, and Zak MacNaught, who contributed one a piece. Bryan Paolotto recorded 40 saves for the Hawks. Exeter registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Team's Cody Hern and Ryan Consitt were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Stars' Raine stopped 45 shots out of the 52 that he faced. North Middlesex registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For the Stars, Spencer Kading, Pinnell, and Chris Waack were ejected from the contest.
