Burford blows out Norfolk, 9-3

The Burford Bulldogs were firing on all cylinders against the Norfolk Rebels, and when the final buzzer sounded Bulldogs emerged with a 9-3 win.

Burford's penalty kill excelled, as the Bulldogs gave up one goal despite allowing 10 power plays.

Burford kept Norfolk's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alex Tipping made 24 saves on 33 shots. The Bulldogs' goal total was higher than their season average. Burford has scored at the pace of 5.5 goals per game during the current campaign. The Bulldogs were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 34 penalty minutes.

Burford was led by Ryan White, who racked up two goals and one assist. White scored the first of his two goals at 12:48 into the second period to make the score 6-2 Burford. Nick Longhurst provided the assist. White's next tally made the score 9-3 Burford with 3:42 left in the third period. Matt Cartmel assisted on the tally. Burford additionally got points from Longhurst, who also had one goal and one assist and Cale Burbridge, who also registered one goal and one assist. Burford also had goals scored by Michael Thomlison, who had one and Kyle Chaney and Tyler MacLaughlin, who each put in two. More assists for Burford came via Adam Harris, who had two and Jeff Chulo and Guy Polillo, who each chipped in one.

The Rebels excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Norfolk was helped by Ryan Oatway, who tallied one goal. Oatway scored 9:57 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Burford. Kurtis Pettitt provided the assist. Norfolk also got points from Pettitt, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Nate Parker also scored for Norfolk. Other players who recorded assists for Norfolk were Tyler Jones and Tyler Butler, who contributed one a piece.

Ben Beechey made 15 saves for the Bulldogs on 18 shots. The Rebels incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
