GAME RECAP

Fisher's hat trick boosts Ayr over Hagersville, 8-3

SOJHL     Sat, Oct 06, 2012

The Hagersville Hawks could not stop the Ayr Centennials' Adam Fisher, who tallied a hat trick in an 8-3 win.

Fisher notched his first tally 2:53 into the first period. He then added goals at 3:23 into the third and at 7:11 into the third.

Hagersville fell victim to a deadly Ayr power play, which ripped the Hawks for five goals.

The Centennials kept Hagersville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Justin Paccheco made 38 saves on 46 shots. Ayr surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Centennials average 5.3 goals per contest. Ayr's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. The Centennials struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 52 penalty minutes for 11 opposing power plays.

Ayr also got points from Nick Hirs, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Zack Taylor, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Ayr included Spencer Sweazy, who had one and Brandon Christopher, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Ayr were Ben Poort, Alex Richard, Mike McKnight, and Nathan Redford, who contributed one a piece and Syd Saunders and Alex Mutton, who each chipped in two.

The Hawks forced Ayr goalie Bobby Brown to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Hagersville found itself short handed often, totaling 74 penalty minutes and allowing 17 power plays.

The Hawks were helped by Deacan Krause, who had one goal and one assist. Krause scored on the power play 19:50 into the first period to make the score 4-2 Ayr. A roughing after whistle penalty on Redford had put Hagersville on the power play. Jesse Ross picked up the assist. Eric Drehmer also scored for Hagersville. In addition, Hagersville received assists from Brett Dykstra, Kyle Parsons, and Derek Medeiros, who contributed one a piece.

Brown rejected 35 shots on goal for the Centennials.
