Mt.Brydges wins tough contest against Exeter, 4-3

The Mt.Brydges Bulldogs gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Exeter Hawks.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Grant Johns secured the win for Mt.Brydges with a goal in the third period.

Tyler Lockwood had a great game for the Bulldogs, netting two goals. Lockwood found the back of the net short handed 8:41 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and again while on the power play 13:00 into the second to make the score 3-2 Mt.Brydges.

Mt.Brydges' offense rang up 31 shots on Exeter's net. The Bulldogs were ineffective while on the power play, as they were held to two goals off of nine man advantages. Mt.Brydges' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Mt.Brydges also got points from David Wade, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Mt.Brydges received assists from Robert McTaggart, Jeremy Denomme, and Tony Lindner, who contributed one a piece and Connor Dunn and Sean Candler, who each chipped in two.

The Bulldogs were unable to stop the Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Exeter eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. The Hawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 31 minutes in penalties during the game.

Exeter was helped by Cam Jude, who racked up one goal and two assists. Jude scored on the power play 8:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Exeter. The Hawks had gained a power play chance when Denomme was whistled for hooking. Kalvin Thornton picked up the assist. Exeter additionally got points from Thornton, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Mitch Wild also scored for Exeter. More assists for Exeter came via Brodie Balcom and Jake Currie, who contributed one a piece.

Eric Steinman recorded 32 saves for Mt.Brydges. The Bulldogs incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Paul Orlando made 27 saves for Exeter on 31 shots. The Hawks registered two goals on six power play opportunities. For Exeter, Balcom was ejected from the game.
