Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Port Stanley Sailors defeated the North Middlesex Stars in a shootout 7-6 (2-1 SO). The shootout lasted for 10 attempts between the teams. North Middlesex's shootout goal was scored by Spencer Kading. In addition to the clincher, Port Stanley got a shootout goal from Tyler Beaulieu.The Sailors saw a three-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Port Stanley made the score 4-1 on a goal by Josh Tremblay at 11:29 in the second period. The Stars evened things up at 6-6 on a goal by Tremblay at 16:43 in the third period. The Sailors was paced on offense by Luke McGuire and Beaulieu, who combined for five points. McGuire registered two goals and Beaulieu also added one goal and two assists. Port Stanley made North Middlesex's goalies to work without much rest, launching 50 shots and forcing 43 saves. Bobby Raine made 23 stops and Matt Lockwood made 20. The Sailors found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Port Stanley has scored at the pace of 4.8 goals per game during the current campaign. Port Stanley additionally got points from Taylor Schram, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Beaulieu, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Port Stanley were Mark Brisson, who had three and Austin Blais, Tanner Turley, and Conner Halonen, who contributed one a piece. The Sailors were unable to stop the Stars from sending pucks towards the net, and North Middlesex eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. The Stars' goal total was higher than their season average.
