Burford outlasts Tavistock, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Burford Bulldogs escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Tavistock Braves.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by JJ Haroland at 3:49 of the third period.

Haroland had two goals to lead Burford to victory.

The Bulldogs pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 19 penalty minutes.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 12:35 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Burford's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Tavistock power plays. The Bulldogs did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Burford averages 6.0 goals per game.

Burford also got a goal from Tyler Vandenbussche as well. More assists for Burford came via Pat Bates, Tyler MacLaughlin, Tommy Smith, Jesse Brooks, and Adam Harris, who contributed one a piece.

Tavistock excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Braves forced the Bulldogs goalie Don Davis to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Tavistock was helped by James McCorquodale, who registered one goal. McCorquodale scored 14:06 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Tavistock. Charlie Malson also scored for Tavistock. In addition, Tavistock received assists from Jordan Ritsma, who had one.

Davis recorded 35 saves for Burford. The Bulldogs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jim Salatas was ejected from the game. The Braves' Tim Parker stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Tavistock ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For the Braves, Jeremy Munro, Mack Gingerich, and Andrew Schacht were ejected from the contest.
