Candler leads Mt.Brydges over Lucan, 3-0SOJHL Wed, Sep 26, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Mt.Brydges Bulldogs' Sean Candler had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 3-0 win over the Lucan Irish. Candler found the back of the net 6:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mt.Brydges and again while on the power play 16:39 into the first to make the score 2-0 Mt.Brydges.Mt.Brydges was boosted by Eric Steinman, who turned in a shutout with 44 saves. Steinman managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.09 prior to the game. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 10:08 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Bulldogs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Lucan to score on any of its three power plays. The Irish were unable to stop Mt.Brydges from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bulldogs eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. Mt.Brydges also got a goal from Robert McTaggart as well. In addition, Mt.Brydges received assists from Mitch Rowse, who had one and Grant Johns, who had two. Lucan did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Irish average 3.3 goals per game. Lucan forced Mt.Brydges goalie Steinman to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots. The Irish were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 31 penalty minutes. The Bulldogs totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 2-for-8 on the power play. For Mt.Brydges, Mike Frizzell was ejected from the game. Dylan Hoover made 43 saves for Lucan on 46 shots. Team's Jordan Vanderwel and Colin Hartwick were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
