Huge game by Poirier boosts Norwich over Thamesford, 7-2

Todd Poirier was all over the ice for Norwich, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Norwich's 7-2 win over the Thamesford Trojans.

Poirier scored 10:14 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Norwich. Brenden Schreider assisted on the tally. Poirier dished an assist on Tom Brady's goal that made the score 1-0 Norwich at 8:39 into the first period. He added another helper on Jakob Schira's goal that made the score 5-2 Norwich at 14:50 into the third period.

Norwich forced Thamesford goalie James Champagne to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. Norwich's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Norwich finished with 51 penalty minutes. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Norwich also got points from Schira, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Brady, who also had one goal and two assists, Schreider, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Drake Morrell, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Brandon Zimmermann also scored for Norwich. Other players who recorded assists for Norwich were Braeden Shand, who had two and Jesse Cave, Brett Parsons, and Gus Ford, who contributed one a piece.

Team could not crack Norwich's penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having 15 opportunities to play with the man advantage. The Trojans could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 46 minutes in penalties during the game.

Thamesford was helped by Adam Levine, who racked up one goal. Levine scored on the power play 10:18 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Norwich. The Trojans had gotten the advantage when Norwich's Schira was sent off for roughing. Dylan Salter picked up the assist. Thamesford additionally got points from Salter, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Thamesford came via Brandyn Di Domenico, who had one and Stavros Mandrapilias, who had two.

Matt McGonigle rejected 15 shots on goal for Norwich. Norwich registered three goals on 13 power play opportunities. Champagne recorded 28 saves for Thamesford.
