Lucan outlasts Thamesford, 5-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Lucan Irish escaped with a 5-3 victory over the Thamesford Trojans.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Mitch Morin secured the win for Lucan with a goal in the second period.

The Irish was paced on offense by Mitch Smith and Morin, who combined for four points. Smith registered two goals and Morin also added one goal and one assist.

Lucan's penalty kill excelled, as the Irish gave up one goal despite allowing 10 power plays.

Thamesford was unable to stop Lucan from sending pucks towards the net, and the Irish eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. Lucan could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 44 minutes in penalties during the game.

Lucan additionally got points from Morin, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Wes Huston, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Lucan also got a goal from Mike Hisey as well. More assists for Lucan came via Keiron Cobban, who had two and Mitch Read and Dylan Moss, who contributed one a piece.

The Trojans' offense rang up 41 shots on the Irish's net.

Thamesford was helped by Stavros Mandrapilias, who registered two goals. Mandrapilias scored the first of his two goals at 9:26 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Lucan. Dylan Salter picked up the assist. Mandrapilias' next tally made the score 3-3 with 6:09 left in the second period. The Trojans had gained a power play chance when Cobban was whistled for head contact. Kyle Walker provided the assist. Thamesford also got points from Walker, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Thamesford received assists from James Toye and Adam Levine, who each chipped in one.

Lucan's Dylan Hoover stopped 38 shots out of the 41 that he faced. The Irish registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Grayson Templeman recorded 38 saves for Thamesford. The Trojans incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
