Mt.Brydges rolls over North Middlesex, 5-1

The Mt.Brydges Bulldogs had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the North Middlesex Stars.

Mt.Brydges' penalty kill excelled, as the Bulldogs gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Mt.Brydges was led by Grant Johns, who grabbed one goal. Johns scored on the power play 14:25 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Mt.Brydges. A tripping penalty on Nolan Vlasman had put the Bulldogs on the power play. Ryan Battersby provided the assist.

Mt.Brydges could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 38 minutes in penalties during the game. Team could not crack North Middlesex's penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having 19 opportunities to play with the man advantage.

Mt.Brydges also got a goal from Sean Candler as well. More assists for Mt.Brydges came via Mike Frizzell, who had one and Tony Lindner, who had two.

The Stars were held below their usual level of production. North Middlesex puts an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game. The Stars were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 84 penalty minutes.

Eric Steinman made 24 saves for the Bulldogs on 25 shots. For Mt.Brydges, Sam MacGee was ejected from the game. Bobby Raine took the loss and made six saves before being replaced by Matt Lockwood who made 15 saves. North Middlesex ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brock Pinnell was ejected from the game.
