Dorchester survives Port Stanley comeback, wins 4-3

Port Stanley    Sat, Sep 15, 2012

The Dorchester Dolphins survived a determined comeback attempt by the Port Stanley Sailors on the way to a 4-3 win.

Dorchester took a 4-0 lead during the second period, only to have Port Stanley storm back on a Tyler Beaulieu goal 19:37 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Sailors' power play was ineffective against the Dolphins' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Port Stanley was unable to stop Dorchester from sending pucks towards the net, and the Dolphins eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Dorchester had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 11 chances. The Dolphins found themselves short handed often, totaling 52 penalty minutes and allowing nine power plays.

Dorchester was helped by Jacob Baribeau, who tallied one goal and one assist. Baribeau scored on the power play 6:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dorchester. A roughing penalty on Cody Taggert had put the Dolphins on the power play. Connor McKay assisted on the tally. Dorchester also got points from Connor Lovell, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Tyler Vere also scored for Dorchester. More assists for Dorchester came via Chris Buckholz and Patrick Freel, who contributed one a piece.

The Sailors could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 48 minutes in penalties during the game.

Port Stanley also got a goal from Luke McGuire as well. In addition, Port Stanley received assists from Andrew Yurek and Dan Gordon, who each chipped in one.

Dorchester's Jake Fonti stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Brandon Garner made 32 saves for Port Stanley on 36 shots.
